Grimethorpe Colliery Band celebrates its centenary year in 2017, with the history of the organisations stretching as far back as the First World War. The band have been National and Open Champions on numerous occasions, making Grimethorpe Colliery the world’s leading Brass Band. The band has also been the recipient of 2 gold discs as well as BAFTA nomination for its contributions to the global hit movie “Brassed Off” for which Grimethorpe Village and the Band were the focal point.

As part of the centenary celebrations the band are touring the country and visiting as many theatres as possible during 2017 under the banner of the 100th anniversary of the ensemble.
